Lent Day 22 – Who is Jesus?

Scripture Reading: Matthew 16:13-20

This is a direct question, but it is better explained through what Jesus Christ stands for.

Man sinned against God and received the punishment of death. To escape the second death, Christ came to redeem us. According to this great love, the acceptance of Him that came for our sake, will save us from eternal destruction (Romans 3:23-26).

He is the only way to God and also serve as the intermediary between God and men. Having broken the connecting link between him and his creator, Christ came to restore this relationship (1 Timothy 2:5)

Christ is without blemish and this pious nature was the needed sacrifice to shame Satan for our sake (2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Peter 2:22, Hebrews 9:28).

As a result of the miracles by Him, the demoniac boy that was cured will never forget the Messiah (Mark 9:14-29). His disciples, especially Simon Peter will never forget also how He walked on the sea (Matthew 14:22-28), and how He told the wave to hold its peace and it obeyed Him (Matthew 14:29-33). All these are undeniable testaments of who Jesus Christ is.

While He was transiting to Heaven, He promised to send the Comforter (Holy Spirit), to us to guide us aright in all that He has taught us (John 15:26). This is to enable us to focus on our Salvation journey without falling into the hands of Satan. The Holy Spirit eventually came upon the disciples in the Upper Room in the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-21)

Through His name, Peter and John healed the lame man (Acts 3:1-10) and many contemporary prophets like St. Moses Orimolade of Cherubim and Seraphim, St. Benjamin Adekahunsi of Oke Igbala Olu C and S, St. Isaiah Akinadewo of Motailatu Church C and S, Pastor Joesph Ayo Babalola of Christ Apostolic Church, Pastor Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa of Celestial Church of Christ, Rev Josiah Olunowo Ositelu of Church of The Lord Aladura, and many other prophets have used His name to perform miracles. This is in line with the Scriptures in John 14:12 that verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father.

Therefore, if we know Him and understand what His name stands for, we shall command in His name and it shall come to pass.

May Christ’s name continue to stand for us at all times, through Christ our Lord.

Memory Verse:
Acts 2:41
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptised: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls”.
