Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 5:9-14
The birth of Jesus Christ in an obscure place (manger – Luke 2:7); the chosen of David, among his elder brothers; the grace upon the life of Joseph; the grace enjoyed by Mary Magdalene, and the conversion of Saul to Apostle, is enough to prove that those and things that we look down on are what Jehovah God embrace.
We have most times lost our destiny to searching for where there is crowd, undermining little help done for us, adopting those that do not even know that we exist as our mentor just because of social media popularity as against those that we see daily and are beneficial to us, etc.
The grace of God upon our lives has nothing to do with human preference for fame, but what He decided to do.
Like in today’s world, Namaan showed disdain to the ‘filthy and stinking’ River Jordan in Israel, and showed preference for the various ‘cleaner’ Rivers in Damascus, Syria.
To Namaan, River Jordan lacked the potency to heal. He used human perception to judge spiritual things. Yet, the bible posited that “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty” – 1 Corinthians 1:27.
The path to salvation is narrow, but the one to destruction is wider and bigger (Matthew 7:13-14), that it can accommodate almost everyone confirmed for such a place.
Immediately we tilt toward things that our carnal mind tells us and show insolence to things that look inferior to us, then, we might have lost our spiritual hindsight.
Things of God are never done through crowd, gigantic building, good command of English, etc, but by the Spirit of the Lord.
It wasn’t until that young Hebrew maidservant humbly counseled Namaan that he came back to his senses. Many times a number, we have lost the direction of God because we are moved by what we see and what we think that we like and we will now be praying towards them. God can never operate like man. His ways are unknown to nobody, it is full of mysteries. It is only when we fail to act like Abraham did against the birds of prey from God, when he sacrificed to Him that our destiny and those of our generations will not be undermined in the land of the Egyptians (Genesis 15:11-14).
To achieve His purpose for us, let us take away insolence from the way that we view things of God and have a deeper spiritual thinking for all that come our way, and we shall fulfil all that He desire for our destiny.
May we not be confounded by the foolishness of the world, through Christ our Lord.
Memory Verse:
1 Corinthians 15:33
